Quebec Student Wins National Video Contest

May 2, 2022 - Hamilton, ON- Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS)

Today, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) announced the winners of the 2022 National Focus on Safety Youth Video Contest. 

First place: "L'employe modle" 
Producers: Thomas Laflamme-Gamache, Etienne Petit, Ezekiel Smith, Roger Gamache 
Drummondville, Quebec 

Second place:"Identifying Hazards" 
Producer: Kiera Sharpley 
Charlottetown Rural High School, Prince Edward Island 

Third place:"Are You Okay?" 
Producer: Eric Shuai 
Port Moody Secondary School, British Columbia 

The video contest challenged youth across the country to use their creativity to produce an original video that could be used in social media to illustrate to younger workers the importance of working safely on the job. Contestants and their affiliated organizations, institutions, or schools had a chance to win cash prizes, and provincial/territorial, regional, and national recognition.

Eight entries were accepted for national consideration from provincial, territorial, and regional contests. The videos entered in the national contest were evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of Shirley Hickman,Executive Director,Threads of Life, Kerry Moraes-Sugiyama, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, and Sharon DeSousa, Public Service Alliance of Canada.
