US/China talks will center on yuan
Montreal News.Net Wednesday 3rd December, 2008
The United States and China have opened talks on currency matters and the future of economic relations.
Clashes are expected when US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson presses Beijing to let its yuan rise against the dollar.
American companies contend that China keeps the yuan undervalued, giving its exporters an unfair advantage.
China has claimed its exporters are already suffering enough in the slowing economic environment.
The talks will also cover the broad agenda of cooperation in energy conservation and environmental protection.
